Monitoring call quality of a particular SIP number in RTP stream

In some cases when receiving customer QoS or QoE complains one has to monitor call quality of a particular client to figure out root cause of the problem. In most of the cases one may not record conversations, but does need information on what is happening with voice quality on the call. PVQA server allows discovering impairments in a call with specific SIP number in RTP stream providing several metrics that make discovery of the problem root cause easier:

Sevana MOS is quality score predicted by pure audio waveform analysis

Network MOS is calculated based on network statistic

PVQA waveform analysis informs on such metrics as SNR, Dead Air, Clipping, Crackling, Echo for each 10 seconds of the call providing also final report on the impairments that lead to voice quality degradation:

As an example one may receive call audio from a partner supplier already with impairments caused by packet loss in the partner network, but won’t be able to determine the issue having perfect network conditions in its own network. In such cases PVQA server will report low Sevana MOS and high Network MOS and metrics will show Dead Air and Clicking impairments in the call audio. Another example is amplitude clipping, which typically happens due to amplification misconfiguration on the voice path. Just let us know you are interested and we tell you more.
